Do you need a Licence to drive in Rarotonga?

Yes. All rental companies on the island require you to have a Cook Islands license for Insurance policy purposes. Go to the Police station in Avarua (open Mon – Fri 9am – 3pm, Sat 9am - noon) with your passport and current international license cost is $20.00. You may be required to sit a practical & theory test.

Is there a hospital nearby?

Yes, Tiare village is about 10mins drive to the main hospital. There is a cost depending on the medical assistance you need.

Restaurant, Cafe and night club?

Tiare Village is close to town and most eateries cater for all budgets. Night Clubs are also centred in the main town. Information can be sought from the office.

Sunday Arrivals

The main town stores are all closed. There is a small store that sells the basics, go to the bottom of the drive about 150 metres to the right, turn left at the intersection. Hours Sunday 7am – 10am, reopens from 5.30pm – 9pm. Normal hours are from 7am – 9pm Mon – Sat. Otherwise bring your own tea/coffee/cereal. OR across the road from the International Airport is The Islander Restaurant that is open 8am - 9pm Mon - Sunday serves Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner. Or situated directly opposite is the French Cafe. The International Airport is about a 10min walk from Tiare Village.

Security

Please feel free to use our office safe to store your passports and important documents. One should always be vigilant, as one would expect to be in one’s own home

ATM Machines

Rarotonga have 3 main Banks: BCI (Bank of Cook Islands), ANZ, BSP (Bank of South Pacific). ATM Machines are located at the International Airport, in town and in Muri. Withdrawal from ATM vary approx. NZ$500 per day.

Do we need insect repellent and medical supplies?

It is advisable to bring a supply of your own but you can purchase from the pharmacies or supermarkets here on Rarotonga.

Prior to booking have your itinerary on hand

Let us know which type of accommodation you prefer, details of your incoming flight so we can organize your pick up, What country you are coming from, Flight number e.g. Air New Zealand NZ? / Virgin Australia VA? / Air Tahiti / Jetstar. Expected Time of Arrival (ETA) and how long you would like to stay with us. Please remember the dateline when advising your ETA to Rarotonga. Once I have received your booking, I will return confirmation with transfer advice. Deposit is applied accordingly. Please note that if your flight is due in on the 10th @ 1am the 9th is payable.

Immigration Policy

Requires you to have accommodation arrangement prior to your arrival. If you have booked with us you would have received confirmation. Fill in AIRPORT MOTEL-Tiare Village on your immigration form.

All rates are in $NZ and include 15% GST (tax)

Transfers

Once you have received confirmation of your booking the following advice will be sent: As you exit the arrival area advise the “welcome” tourism officer where you are staying “Tiare Village” and she will indicate your pick up station. Transfer cost is NZ$15.00pp per way.
